FBI NEWS & INFO TOP 10 ENDING AUGUST 24th
I have tried to post the Daily Anti-Terror News Briefs despite the time restrictions, so if nothing else you are kept abreast of events related to terrorism.
Other than downloading the related gruesome photos and placing them into the appropriate sections, the horrifying Indonesian Islamic 'regression' in their society and continued murder of Chinese ethnic Indonesians (mostly Chrisitians), a mind boggling realization, is about to be posted in the next couple of days.
This article graphically underlines and confirms that fundemental Islam is NOT a religion of peace BUT OF BODY PIECES! See for yourselves. The photos are not altered in any way and mostly come from official Indonesian sources.
The difference of what you will see and what happens in Iran is that within the Islamic Regime of the Iran Mullahs it is a 100 times worse but does not reach the streets and an ability for the press to photograph it.
Far more murders and tortures and unbelievable physical abuse take place in the shadows of some 100 UNOFFICIAL secret prisons into which people disappear as often as not never to reappear - in addition to the hell holes like Evin prison and other formal Mullah dungeons.
In the meantime, check out the FBI News headings of the week and view the Terror News page.
A new video (on the Videos page) of a contortionist might interest you as much as it intreagued me.
On the Iran front a lot is going on behind the scenes at the moment but not for public disclosure.

CARTER SECOND WORST GLOBAL "DISEASE"
Parade Magazine released its Annual List of the World's 10 Worst Dictators.
A quick glance at this list brings up images of Jimmy Carter traversing the globe, leaving his little footprints all over millions of oppressed, starving and murdered innocents.
Many of these dictators listed in Parade Magazine today owe Jimmy a big thanks and a little kiss, for his efforts in their success.
For without Jimmy's help, only God knows if these brutal men would be residing in the same place of comfort as they are today. As you read this remember that Nobel Peace Prize Winner Jimmy Carter has never shown remorse, taken responsibility or even acknowledged that his shortsighted simple-minded policies led to these horrors.
#1 Omar al-Bashar of Sudan, has used Jimmy Carter to help him with several agreements between Sudan and its neighbors including Egypt and Uganda. But, al-Bashar is no gentleman, and Darfur is his second genocide:
Al-Bashir is a graduate of the 'Idi Amin School of Dictators'. Darfur would be Sudanese President Lt. General Omar Hassan al Bashir's second genocidal campaign against his countrymen. He waged the first against the Christian and animist people of south and central Sudan, with most of the deaths occurring over a decade beginning in the early '90s and 2002.
As Elie Wiesel wrote about the south, it was "genocide in slow motion." Over two million eventually perished and five million more were displaced before peace protocols — brokered largely through heroic efforts of the Bush administration — were signed last month. At #2, Kim Jung Il of North Korea can thank Jimmy Carter for brokering the nuclear arms agreement in 1994 that helped this madman acquire nuclear weapons:
Just days after it was announced that Carter had won the Peace Prize, North Korea announced that it had atomic weapons and some "worse stuff."
Carter, the so-called "peacemaker," had been instrumental in the early '90s in "mediating" U.S.-Korean relations, an effort that led to Clinton policies that actually helped North Korea build and acquire these weapons.#3 Than Shwe, Burma (Myanmar).
Jimmy Carter called jailed fellow Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi a "heroic woman" in a 2003 speech. Aung San Suu Kyi is the only Nobel Peace Laureate yet to claim her prize in Norway. (Unable to).
Jimmy Carter invited Dictator #4 Robert Mugabe to the White House in 1980 (from Bleeding Hearts, Bloody Hands):
Rhodesia held free elections in which black moderate Bishop Abel Muzorewa was elected to the post of Prime Minister. However, the world press (and Jimmy Carter) declared the elections null and void because the two terrorist groups, ZAPU (Zimbabwe African People's Union) and ZANU (Zimbabwe African Nationalist Union), were not invited to participate.
A continuation of sanctions eventually forced another election, overseen by international collectivists. To nobody's surprise, the more powerful of the two terrorist leaders, Robert Mugabe, edged out rival Joshua Nkomo for the top slot, in balloting which was described as "one gun, one vote."
This was heralded by the world press as the gate to a new era, as Cecil Rhodes' name was dropped. During the 1980s, the saying was that "One used to go to Rhodesia to see the ruins of Zimbabwe.
Now it's the other way around." American President Jimmy Carter hosted Mugabe at the White House in 1980, proclaiming that he had watched happily as Mugabe emerged victorious, adding that he was going to use similar tactics in his own reelection campaign!
#5 Islam Karimov, Uzbekistan. Jimmy Carter compares the US to Uzbekistan:
Carter said many countries (including Uzbekistan), including the United States, are using the campaign against terrorism as an excuse to restrict freedoms and silence human rights activists.
Dictator #6 Hu Jintao, of China, the most murderous regime in the history of mankind owes a special thanks to Jimmy Carter:
On December 15, 1978, Carter terminated our relations with Taiwan and recognized Communist China, the most murderous regime in the history of the planet.
He did this after Congress had adjourned for Christmas. The Senate, earlier that year, had voted 94-0 on a resolution that it should be consulted before any change in the treaty with Taiwan.
Red China would proceed to benefit from a massive transfer of US credit and technology, a process that would reach an orgasmic climax during the Clinton Administration.
Carter would remain silent in the face of the genocide performed by the Cambodian Marxist Pol Pot.
So much for Carter as the champion of "human rights."And, this from Jimmy Carter himself:
I had a very close friendship with China, particularly then, because I had normalized diplomatic relations with China, and they shared a lot of their information [and] advice with me.
#7 King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia After the Gulf War, Saudi Arabia was mad at Arafat, because the PLO chief had sided with Saddam Hussein.
So Arafat asked Carter to fly to Riyadh to smooth things over with the princes and restore Saudi funding to him — which Carter did.#8 Saparmurat Niyazov, Turkmenistan Hmm. No Jimmy link?Only because of Jimmy Carter's leadership did Dictator #9 Seyed Ali Khamane’i, from Iran make the list:
Jimmy Carter, upon taking office in 1977, declared that advancing “human rights” was among his highest priorities.
Because America’s ally the Shah of Iran was torturing approximately 3,000 prisoners (many of them agents for Iran’s bordering neighbor the Soviet Union), Mr. Carter ostentatiously withdrew U.S. support from the Shah.
Mr. Carter ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to stop paying $4 million per year in bribes to the religious Mullahs to tone down their rhetoric.
Many of these Muslim leaders disliked the Shah not because he was dictatorial but because the Shah was secular, pro-Western, and expanding the rights and equality of women.
Because Mr. Carter withdrew U.S. support and unleashed Mullah fury, the Shah was toppled.
Did this liberate the 3,000 political prisoners?
No. The new theocratic dictatorship of the Ayatollah Khomeini put many of these “godless Communists” up against walls alongside more than 20,000 pro-Western Iranians and liquidated them all by firing squads.
Women were sent back into servitude. Citizens were arrested merely for owning satellite dishes that could tune to Western programs. And, of course, American diplomats were taken hostage.
#10 is Teodoro Obiang Nguema, from Equatorial Guinea, a country of 500,000 people that Jimmy has left untouched.
This year Fidel Castro landed at #15. Jimmy made a trip to the island paradise in 2002 to rub elbows with Fidel.
Jimmy Carter indicated that he believed communist dictator Fidel Castro, not his own country (America) about Havana's bioterror threat.During a visit Carter and Castro made to Cuba's Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, scientists denied they exported technology that could be used to make weapons of mass destruction.
Carter sounded apologetic even for questioning his hosts – and swallowed their claims without one shred of evidence.
"I just want to assure myself," said the Georgia Democrat, Castro's favorite of the 10 U.S. presidents he has dealt with during his four-decade-plus dictatorship.
Here's a close personal friend of Jimmy Carter, Meles Zenawi, from Ethiopia showing up in slot #18 (Jimmy had a little run in with a few dozen angry Ethiopian protesters in a parking lot in Minnesota in November while he was pushing his morals book and bashing President Bush.)
Jimmy Carter just rubberstamped the election results in May in favor of the dictator Meles since then, Meles has been on a shooting spree, spraying down protesters in June, November, and yesterday at a Christian Holiday celebration.
Although overlooked this year make sure you check out next year's list for Jimmy's close personal friend Hugo Chavez to make a big jump up in the ranks.

DEFENSE & FOREIGN AFFAIRS SPECIAL ANALYSIS August 24
Analysis. From GIS Station Baghdad.
The Iraqi Government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki seems less than likely to survive through September 2007. The US Bush Administration appears to have now openly given its blessing to the removal, by one means or another of the now almost-totally pro-Tehran Maliki Administration.
GIS/Defense & Foreign Affairs reported on July 31, 2007, that a military coup by the independent (ie: not Maliki-controlled) Iraqi Special Forces was possible in September 2007. But other “mechanisms” are also known to be under consideration by Iraqi nationalists.
What is more, Prime Minister Maliki is aware of the threat, and is maneuvering — in close coordination with Tehran and Damascus — to stave off the threats.
See Defense & Foreign Affairs Special Analysis, July 31, 2007: Moving Toward a Confluence of Disruptive Events in the Middle East.
What is significant has been the transformation in the Iraqi polity over the past year. Sectarian insurgency and terrorism, with Shi’a and Sunni groups (including al-Qaida Iraq: AQI) sponsored covertly and sometimes indirectly by Iran and Syria, certainly escalated the violence against Coalition forces and Iraqi targets.
But it also has induced a nationalist backlash, to the point where even Moqtada al-Sadr has begun attempts to “work with” the US forces in a bid to maintain his organization — the so-called Mahdi Army — which, Iraqi sources confirm, is more criminally-based than ideologically-based, despite having received considerable political, financial, and logistical impetus from Iran.
Iraqi villagers are, by and large, beginning to resist insurgent groups, whether Shi’a or Sunni. And Iraqi sources are increasingly saying that AQI is “finished”, partly as a result of the “surge” of additional US forces under Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of the Multi-National Force - Iraq (MNF-I), and partly because Iraqis — even Shi’as — are generally seeking a more nationalist line in reaction to perceived pressures from “the Persians”.
By August 24, 2007, there were open discussions on Iraqi radio stations about the imminence of a new military government in Iraq. This confirmed the July 31, 2007, report by GIS/Defense & Foreign Affairs, cited above.
The rumors are now widespread about a military-led change in Iraq, and, significantly, the comment on the ground is more concerned with a nationalist agenda, rather than whether the leadership is Shi’a or Sunni. Moreover, Washington — including the White House — also seems more committed to stable governance than promoting the earlier agenda of “democracy” for Iraq.
A military-led government in Iraq could probably only occur, however, if the Iraqi Special Forces undertake the mission, as suggested in the July 31, 2007, report. This is because the Iraqi Special Forces are outside the control of the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, and therefore outside the line of command of the Maliki Government.
This force is under the control of the US, so a Special Forces-led “coup”, or something which approximates a coup (a “military commission”: majlis ‘askari, perhaps), would logically be perceived to be undertaken with Washington’s support.
Watch for the name of Gen. Mohammed Abdullah Shawani, a former commander of Iraqi Special Forces, to be mentioned as a possible new leader of Iraq. Gen. Shawani, a Turkmen who also holds a US passport, had also been mentioned in 2003 within the context of a US-supported military takeover in Iraq. And he has kept an extremely low profile ever since. Baghdad sources said that he had been “kept on ice” for this occasion.
Prime Minister al-Maliki has also made it clear that he understands the threats against him. Mr Maliki, during a visit to Damascus on August 22, 2007, said, in response to US pressures: “We will find many around the world who will support us in our endeavor.” That he spoke in Damascus was an indication of the “other friends” he had in mind, and with whom he was already well-entrenched.
Gata’a al-Rakaby (sometimes transliterated as Rakabie), Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister, and an Australian national (who also carries an Iraqi diplomatic passport), has been one of the principal links between Prime Minister al-Malaki and the senior Syrian and Iranian leaderships, flying regularly to Damascus and Tehran with large amounts of cash. Mr al-Rakaby, however, was, by late August 2007, also planning to visit Australia, where there is a significant Iraqi expatriate population.
At the same time, US Pres. George W. Bush essentially damned the Malaki Administration and the Prime Minister with faint praise after the two met in Washington.
The US has reached a watershed in Iraq, attributable to an apparent abandonment of the “democracy” goal and to the success of the Petraeus-led “surge” of troops into Iraq and the change of military doctrine.
But the watershed is also attributable to some degree of Iraqi reaction to what has been seen as obvious “Persian” — and by default, Syrian — intervention in Iraqi affairs, leading to a backlash of nationalism.
The Coalition and Iraqi forces have also had a significant period of success in eliminating many insurgent leaders. Coalition and Iraqi forces were able to kill or capture 26 senior insurgent leaders in the country in May and June 2007. The US Command in Baghdad noted that these included:
• Eleven were emirs who were city or local al-Qaeda leaders;
• Seven “facilitators” who smuggled foreigners, weapons and money into Iraq;
• Five cell leaders who commanded terrorist units which worked for the emirs; and
• Three vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) network leaders.
In July 2007, two AQI leaders — the “military emir” in Mosul, and a “foreign facilitator” — were killed, and 13 other jihadists were captured. In August 2007, by mid-month, Coalition forces had killed a further two AQI leaders — the emir for Salah ad-Din and the emir for Mosul — and had captured a variety of other leaders, including, importantly, the kidnapping cell leader of the Special Group in Baghdad, and a Network Leader of the Special Group in Baghdad.
As well, in early August 2007, other captives included the “city emir” for AQI in Samarra, and the AQI’s second in command in Karmah, as well as a sniper cell leader of AQI in Mosul. It was not insignificant that some of the kills and captures were now appearing in the north of Iraq, in the area nominally under the control of the Kurds, but which includes, in fact, areas traditionally dominated by the Iraqi Turkmen, who are now themselves under growing pressure from the Kurds.
The al-Qaida Iraq groups, although Sunni, have — as GIS/Defense & Foreign Affairs has noted in the past — been supported covertly and extensively by the Iranian clerical leadership as well as via Iran’s main surrogate, Syria.
On August 24, 2007, however, Malaki and some of the AQI groups began their “counter-offensive” with SVIED (suicide vehicle, improvised explosive device) attacks, including a major hit on the main oil pipeline running out of Baghdad to the south. But the strategic response is likely to be far more significant from Tehran and Damascus. GIS/Defense & Foreign Affairs reported on June 30, 2007, that both Iran and Syria were preparing for a major conflict situation.
See Defense & Foreign Affairs Special Analysis, June 30, 2007: Iran, Syria Make Strenuous Preparations for Combat-Readiness, Partly Reflecting Major Internal Leadership Schisms.
That report noted: “A pattern of Iranian and Syrian cooperation is emerging which indicates intensive preparations for imminent hostilities, even in the face of — and perhaps even because of — growing public unrest within their societies.”
Western media and intelligence perceptions indicate that both the Syrian leadership of Bashar al-Assad and the Iranian leadership under Pres. Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad had become “confident” and “emboldened” in their actions in recent months because of US failures in the region.
However, there are indications that some of the recent boldness and preparations for major conflict by both leaders indicates also a sense of urgency based on the reality that not all is well within their own countries, and with regard to their operations in Iraq.
The principal question, then, is whether Iran and Syria will find a way to initiate major hostilities — perhaps against Israel and the US — before or after any anticipated change of government in Iraq, given that the change in Baghdad could reverse many years of work by the Iranian clerics to break out of their containment.
As well, the Iranian-Syrian response must at least consider the prospect of other destabilizing actions, possibly in the north of Iraq. Such a move would invoke a Turkish response at a critical time in Turkish politics, a pivotal time — with the imminent election of Islamist candidate Abdullah Gul to the Turkish Presidency — which could incite the Turkish General Staff to act militarily in Iraq.
The results for Tehran have been ambiguous. Iran had, by early 2007, almost achieved the defeat of the Coalition in Iraq, and the two major leaders — President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister al-Maliki — were essentially under their control [Pres. Talabani, head of the Kurdish Talabani tribe, had for decades been a paid Iranian intelligence asset, as has the leadership of the Barzani tribe].
Now, once again, the matter comes down to a pivotal, life and death, point. Clearly, with the control of their countries on the line, neither Ahmadi-Nejad (and the other clerical leaders) or Bashar al-Assad is able to walk away from this fight.
And if Gen. Shawani does indeed become Iraq’s new leader, expect still other ramifications: the Kurds will once again look to Tehran and Syria for help, given the reality that Shawani would likely limit the gains which the Kurds have taken, at gunpoint, from the Turkmen in Kirkuk and other areas of the north of Iraq.

AMERICA KICKING ASS AT LAST
US SUBS SINK N. KOREAN SHIP Click Here for source article
US Sinks a North Korean Ship Carrying Enriched Uranium Cargo for Iran in the past month, American naval and air forces have intercepted two North Korean vessels clandestinely en route for Iran with cargoes of enriched uranium and nuclear equipment.
The shutdown of Pongyong's nuclear facilities has made these items surplus to North Korea's requirements and worth a good price to the Islamic Republic.
Revealing this, intelligence and military sources describe the second incident in detail.
On July 12, the second intercepted North Korean freighter was sunk in the Arabian Sea by torpedoes fired from a US submarine 100 miles southeast of the Iranian navalbase-port of Chah Bahar.
Delivery of its freight of enriched weapons-grade uranium and equipment and engines for manufacturing more fissile material including plutonium in its hold could have jump-forwarded Iran's nuclear bomb and warhead project, lopping off at least a year of work.
For this Iran's rulers were ready to fork out $500million.
A few hours earlier, President George W. Bush received an intelligence briefing on the vessel, its freight - listed on official documents as a consignment of iron - and destination.
Sources report that the shipment was brought forward by several weeks to evade detection by UN nuclear watchdog inspectors who were to descend on Pyongyang this week to verify the dismantling of its nuclear facilities.
US airplanes had been tracking the freighter and picked up signs of radioactivity, indicating the presence of nuclear materials aboard.
Iran offers $1.5 billion for discarded North Korea nuclear items.
President Bush had the option of ordering US Marines to board the vessel or sinking it. He decided on the latter - both because the North Korean freighter was approaching an area patrolled by Iranian naval units and seizure of the vessel by American Marines might have provoked a clash; also so as not to expose US troops to radioactive contamination.
He therefore first ordered American naval and air units in the Persian Gulf, Middle East and seas opposite North Korea to go on a high state of readiness and torpedo the North Korean vessel without delay.
After the attack, US warships raced to the spot where the ship went down. They picked up three lifeboats. Most of the North Korean sailors aboard were either injured or dead.
Twenty in all died in the attack. They all bore symptoms of contamination.
After the episode, the area was cordoned off and underwater equipment dropped to salvage the cargo from the sunken ship.
All the parties to the incident, the United States, North Korea and Iran, have kept it dark. The situation in and around the Gulf is inflammable enough to explode into a full-blown Iranian-US clash at the slightest provocation.
There was also the danger of North Korea aborting the closure of its nuclear facilities at the lastmoment.
Last February, intelligence sources reported the Central Intelligence Agency warned the White House that Iran had offered North Korea a billion and a half dollars in secret negotiations for key components of its dismantled nuclear industry.
In March or early April, Kim Jong-Il decided in the interests of prudence to spurn the offer. He feared that if the deal leaked out to US intelligence, he could say goodbye to the rewards and benefits promised for giving up his nuclear weapons.
But on second thought, the North Korea ruler decided it was worth taking the risk of a limited deal with Iran and he therefore agreed to
1. Subtract for Iran a portion of enriched uranium from his stock.
2. Make up some of Iran's shortages of high tech equipment for manufacturing weapons.
3. Lend Tehran dozens of nuclear engineers and technicians who have been put out of their jobs by the shut down of North Korean's program.
With their help, Iran can speed up its program. Intelligence sources report that three senior North Korean engineers are due in Tehran by August 20 and another nine in December.
By then, North Korea expects the IAEA certificate confirming the closure of its nuclear program to be safely in the bag.
Tehran is also giving North Korea three years' supply of free oil.
The CIA knew about the North Korean deliveries and knew they would be disguised as iron shipments, but were not clear how many ships would be used.
France helps net the first suspect North Korean freighter.
Over several weeks, the Americans cast a dense net of maritime and aerial surveillance, co-opting friendly Asian and European air and naval forces, to keep tabs on every vessel departing North Korea with freights of iron.
The first North Korean vessel was caught in the net on June 25.
Suspected of carrying radioactive materials hidden behind a cargo of iron, the vessel had entered the Arabia Sea and was two days voyage from Iran when, according to sources in Paris, President Bush and French president Nicolas Sarkozy had a quick conversation over secure lines.
That exchange resulted in a decision to rush US and French naval units in the neighborhood to intercept the suspect North Korean freighter and blow it out of the water.
Much about the incident remains under tight wraps. It is not clear whether the ship was sunk by an American or a French submarine and, even after the event, it is not certain that the doomed ship did in fact carry nuclear materials or equipment.
Three days later, on June 28, the US Navy released this statement:
US sailors helped rescue the crew of a North Korean-flagged ship on Monday. The incident occurred in the Arabian Sea when the ship reported it had engine problems, no food or water and was in danger of sinking.
The USNS Kanawha and the French ship Dupleix helped evacuate the ship's 16 crew members to safety. None of the crew was a NorthKorean citizen.
The US and French ships are part of Combined Task Force 150, which conducts maritime security operations in the Gulf of Oman, the Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea, the North Arabian Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean. The Military Sealift Command ship in the US Naval Fleet is the USNS Kanawha.
Sources note that before these two episodes, the last time the US Navy or Air Force directly attacked a North Korean vessel was in December 2002, four months before the invasion of Iraq. That operation was also carried out in conjunction with a European naval force.
The CIA located in the Indian Ocean a North Korean freighter carrying a disguised freight of Scud missiles bound for Saddam Hussein's army in Iraq. The missiles were to have been unloaded in Yemen and smuggled into Iraq.
The ship was boarded by Spanish marines under the cover of American helicopters.
"Russia signs a mammoth arms deal running into tens of billions of dollars for the sale to Tehran of 250 Su-30MKM warplanes and 20 IL-78 MKI fuel tankers.
Iran has stipulated delivery of the first aircraft before the end of 2007. The transaction, Russia's largest arms deal in 30 years, will endow Iran with a long-range aerial assault capability.
The Sukhoi can sustain a four-and-a-half hour raid at its maximum range of 3,000 km against long-distance, marine and low-lying ground targets across the Persian Gulf and Middle East, including Israel and Lebanon.
The fuel tankers extends the Su-30MKM's assault sustainability to 10 hours and its range to 8,000 km at altitudes of 11-13 km. The closest comparable plane in the West is the American F-15E fighter bomber.
Iran's acquisition of an exceptionally large fleet of the Russian fighter-bomber will elevate its air force to one of the two largest and most advanced in the region, alongside the Israeli Air Force.
Iranian air crews are already training on the new Sukhoi aircraft, ready to start flying them early next year with only a short delay after delivery.
Moscow is selling Tehran the same Sukhoi model as India received earlier this year.
The Iranians leaned hard on New Delhi to let them have the Israeli avionics and electronics the Indian Air Force had installed in the Russian craft. India refused.
Russia began delivering the same craft in June to Malaysia, which also sought Israeli avionics without success.
The Su-20MKM has won the nickname of "Islamic Version of Sukhoi." Its two-member crew shares the workload. The first pilot flies the aircraft, controls weapons and maneuvers the plane in a dogfight. The co-pilot employs BVR air-to-air and air-to-ground guided weapons in long-range engagements, sweeps the arena for enemy craft or missiles and performs as command-and-control in group missions.

MULLAHS - BLOODTHIRSTY DRUG ADDICTS
America and her quasi-backboned ‘allies’ have a huge problem that grows by the day. Expectedly, there are as many analyses of our problem as there are ‘experts’ to tell us what to think.
A deluge of Western analysts have their diverse expert opinions regarding the ‘Mullah Problem’ and what do about it. Some strategists advocate a military solution that ranges from full invasion of Iran to selective bombardment of its burgeoning nuclear centers and related facilities.
Others are proponents of imposing economic sanctions of various types and severity. Still others feel that we simply have to learn to live with the inevitable-those ‘crazy’ Mullahs with the bomb.
Perhaps there are no easy answers. But we should still take the time to understand the millstone that hangs around our collective necks. Perhaps within the problem is a solution. So what are the forces at work? What is the source of power that positions the Mullahs to be such a large threat?
Iran’s economy is a basket case. The ruling party has eviscerated productivity, employment, and consumer power, all while destroying personal freedom, and buying every weapon the Russians and Chinese can deliver.
The Islamic Republic of Iran represents the cutting edge for the newly petrodollar-invigorated Islam. This energy exporter/arms importer is not popular at home, but its rulers couldn’t care less. Iran is as far from a democracy as a country can get. No wonder it is adored by the ex-Soviets, and regional dictator-wannabes like Hugo Chavez.
But Iran is no ordinary tyranny. It has a special zeal that gives it an edge: Islam.
Iran is ruled by the mullahs, who are zealously determined to complete their Allah-appointed task of ending the world of ‘Dar-ul-Harb’-the non-Muslim world to be warred upon-and establishing the ‘Dar-ul-Solh,’ or ‘Dar-ul-Salam’- the Muslim world of the Ummeh under the rule of the ‘Mahdi.’
If achieving this aim hinges on the conflagration of a Third World War, the mullahs are more than eager to make it happen. This is their self-proclaimed destiny.
Karl Marx once said derisively that ‘religion is the opiate of the people.’ If so, the militant Islam of Iran is more like crack cocaine than opium.
Islam is the foundation for the Iranian theocracy’s ideology of hate and destruction, but it is not the only force propelling it. Therefore, do not dismiss these vicious destroyers as mere ‘religious fanatics,’ therefore harmless old cranks who are disconnected to reality, soon to be replaced by sane moderates.
They are nowhere near the point of being forced out by a natural revolution. They know what they are doing, and they are playing a very long game of chess.
Likewise do not doubt their steadfastness to their cause even if it means their own annihilation. If invoking catastrophe will compel their precious Mahdi’s coming, their sentiment is ‘bring it on.’
We should rid ourselves of the ‘happy talk’ we tranquilize ourselves with by reasoning that these doddering old-world religious fools may be mischievous, but they could never do real harm. Oh, sure, they might be arming some Iraqi Shiites, killing a few US soldiers, providing a little support for Hizbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Palestine - but they have no global destructive capacity.
After all, we pacify ourselves that we’re not exactly talking about criminal masterminds like Hitler. Or are we?
Such optimistic self-delusions fully misunderstand the evil genius of the Mullahs. The mullahs’ method of staying in power relies heavily on oil for arms... and arms for power. They have a sizable but otherwise insufficient cadre of true-believing Shiites, but popular support is not needed in their situation.
To remain in power, their apparatus relies on ‘preventive’ measures. They don’t bother much with due process of law. Their ‘revolutionary guard’ dispenses with the ‘due’ and gets right to the ‘process.’ On the slightest suspicion, they arrest, convict and execute. They let Allah in the next world take the time to determine the person’s guilt or innocence.
Presently, the Mullahs have been doing all they can to imprison and kill with impunity the internal opposition, and want the rest of the world to keep its nose out of their ‘family’ business. Executions in Iran have skyrocketed.
This bunch of miscreants has the full support of Syria, Venezuela, and Russia. They have enthusiastic support from many terrorist organizations in the region and drug-running organizations worldwide.
They have tacit support from China, Cuba, and France because the power structures of these countries resent the USA, and Iran is the leader in the expression of threats against the US ‘superpower.’
The Mullahs receive relatively little criticism from semi-socialist democracies like Western Europe and Canada who seem obsessed with anti-Bush, anti-US diatribes. Certainly the UN could care less about their bomb-building, and would be holding ‘talks’ after the first detonation because ‘everybody knows war never solved anything.’
The Mullahs have nothing but support and few distractions. They’re not going anywhere without a very big push.
The mullahs have their job to do on God’s earth: to cleanse it of all infidels. When one has a tall order like that to fill, he can’t be bothered with the tedious due process the Western democracies ‘waste’ so much time and resources on.
But these high priests of Iran are not exactly living up to their brand. The mullah mafia has a great scam going. They promise the ignorant Islamic devotees the phony ‘paradise’ of afterlife while they themselves enjoy their paradise of women, wealth and wine on this earth.
They are unrivaled in duplicity and heartlessness. So in nearly perfect emulation of Muhammad and his leadership 1400 years ago, the pious Mullahs go about plotting earthly destruction as they enrich themselves and enjoy earthly pleasures on the backs of their people. Nice work, if you can get it.
Lest you think these men should at least be admired for their self discipline and abstention from personal sins, know that a sizable chunk of the mullahs are heavy opium smokers.
No one can prove it, of course, but I don’t doubt it. In that land, opium smoking is still very popular with people who can afford the fruit of the Poppy. It is the Muslim’s alcohol.
Although its use is prohibited by law, with stiff penalties on the books, the use of opium continues and has become more endemic than ever under the mullahs’ rule. This is in part because many of the mullahs as well as the law-enforcement officials are users and many officials make a personal fortune by getting their cuts from the traffickers.
Opium is the drug of choice in the countryside, and heroin is primarily used by the more affluent city dwellers. Moreover, this is the drug that is used to calm the restless people. And don’t think that a little of their stash doesn’t make its way to the west.
The mullahs take pleasure and pride in their lavish lifestyle and power, and they want to bequeath it to their children, not to the people of Iran. So they assure their minions that Allah does not approve of the anti-Islamic practice of democracy, an invention of ‘western devils.’
Be sure to remember that these crafty, evil men are also long-term planners. They have messianic plans to rule the world some day. And with their lifestyle, they can have their cake and eat it too: leisure, power, and destruction, insulated from the corrective forces of the political marketplace.
The mullahs are superb practitioners of the art of making a deal. In this practice, like in the game of poker, much depends on how one plays their hand. In the game of deal-making, beating around the bush is a standard operating procedure. They know that weak-willed Westerners feel productive when they ‘talk,’ and engage in ‘negotiations.’
These activities do nothing; but then again, accomplishing anything other than advancing their own careers and generating an undeserved sense of self-importance is never the goal of careerist diplomats.
As for the ‘Great Satan,’ going after the mullahs seems completely out of the question. We have no stomach for it; the Ayatollahs know it. Even Bush’s most loyal sidekick, ex-UK PM Tony Blair, was opposed to it.
I hope that the Iraq misadventure has taught them an old lesson they seem to have had difficulty learning: it is a terrible mistake to go half way across the world and invade a country, unless you are able and willing to bulldoze the whole thing from one end to the other, with all the people bar none buried under the rubble.
The reason this rule is so important for us to learn is that having and displaying overwhelming power usually means you will not have to use it. But because the West has forgotten how to overwhelm the enemy, the war of attrition persists, and the people of the West become disheartened.
They can’t even interrogate presumed terrorists; they have to send them to Egypt to get the job done!
It’s no wonder that recent military undertakings have been by-and-large busts- in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and even Afghanistan. This same policy of weakness has been successfully replicated in Israel, where the West ties Israeli hands behind their back so they don’t ‘over-react’ to missiles hitting their towns and cities, tunnels dug under their borders, and soldiers being captured by terrorists!
The Mullahs know this game very, very well. They persist, and we pretend the worst can’t happen. Whose opiate is the more effective, theirs or ours?
In the meantime, Iran’s illegitimate regime will, with ever greater peace of mind, pursue their quest for the nuclear bomb, by hook or by crook, and the mullahs of mass destruction will keep the corrupt, yawning, toothless UN ‘watchdog’ content and distracted by throwing it a bone or two from time to time.
Eventually, these suicidal, homicidal followers of Muhammad will have their WMD. In time, they will use it. Future historians will ask: how could the entire world have seen it coming and done nothing about it? What kind of opiate were these people on?
