How would we handle it if Tony blair or Jacues Chirac suddenly told the world or just their nations to prepare for Jesus the Redeemer?
Said that everyday secular life was no longer meaningful and we should let go of everything, not worry about what harm to the economy results and just bask in the light of the imminent arrival of Jesus?
We'd lock them up in a looney bin. Not because Jesus won't return to offer redemption but because modern day societies cannot be run this way.
Ahmadi-Nejad as a proponent of the Hojatieh sect, tells Iranians to prepare for the Mehdi, the 12th Imam, but indicates that for this Imam to bother to pay attention to our world (at least of Shia Islam) he must see enough death, torture, misery, destruction and global suffering to make it worth his while to return.
Thus, according to the Hojatieh philosophy, prevention of death, torture, cruelty, misery, oppression etc., is an act against Islam and must be punished. Usually by death.
And there are those who wish to hold talks with Iran? To reason with them? To persuade them to be a positive part of world society? To abandon the nukes that can cause enough death and destruction through which the beloved 12th Imam will find reason to return?
Whom are they kidding?
